Afriyie Acquah has commended Avram Grant for playing a fatherly role in the life of the Black Stars players.

Acquah has been a key member of Avram Grant's team and he is expected to make the cut for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Gabon, after having participated in the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.

He has praised the Israeli coach for checking up on the Black Stars players like what a father does to his children.

”Grant has taken us as his children, always checking on us, how conditioned we are. Even if you aren’t part of the team he motivates you to train harder and get much playing time in your team.”

Afriyie Acquah, who turns 25 years in four days time believes the current Black Stars team have a tough mentality to win the AFCON, after losing the final against Ivory Coast two years ago.

”I think we have a good team like we had in the last AFCON. We played in the final in the previous edition but we lost to Ivory Coast on shootouts. We have a tougher mentality this time around. We are working hard to be in the final and win the cup,” he added.
