Asamoah Gyan's goal saves NorthEast United from defeat

Former Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan scored as his side NorthEast United held Mumbai FC to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday in the India Super League.

NorthEast United were trailing 2-1, but Gyan rose to the occasion and hit the back of the net to save NorthEast United blushes in front of their home fans.

Panagiotis Triadis opened the scoring for the home side in the 9th minute before Amine Chermiti scored twice in the 22nd and 32nd minute at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati.

The goal is Asamoah Gyan’s third goal since recovering from injury.

The Ghana international is looking forward to getting consistent football in India, something that has eluded him for a while.

The 34-year-old striker joined NorthEast United in the summer from Turkish side Kayserispor.

He has had stints with several outfits including Udinese, Rennes, Sunderland, Al Ain, Shanghai SIPG, Al Ahly UAE, etc.
