Christian Atsu admits he is being wasteful in front of goal

Ghanaian midfielder Christian Atsu has expressed worry over his inability to convert chances that come his way.

Atsu featured as Newcastle United suffered a 0-2 defeat against Manchester United.

The former Chelsea midfielder would have changed the results if he had converted a goal scoring opportunity that was presented to him in the second half of the game.

After 14 Premier League appearances involving seven starts, the 26-year-old is still chasing his first goal of the season.

Christian Atsu who has come under criticisms lately for his inability to influence the outcome of games has admitted that he needs to improve in the vital area of the pitch.

"I'm getting better and working hard," Atsu told NUTV.

"I'm trying to give my best to the team.

"What is left is that I have to improve my end product, my finishing.

"I have had a lot of chances that I could score for the games I have played.

"I think I have to score some goals."

Last term, he netted twice in 28 topflight outings involving 19 starts for The Magpies.
