Ghana Premier League side Aduana Stars have been given a surprise bonus package of $25,000 by owner and patron of the club, Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II.

The Dormaahene gave out the money on Monday as reward for the club’s performance in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup respectively.

The Fire club qualified for the CAF Champions League by virtue of winning the Ghanaian league, but failed to progress to the group stage of the competition after losing to Algeria side ES Setif in the qualifiers.

The Ghanaian champions subsequently dropped to the CAF Confederations Cup after defeating FOSA Juniors in the playoffs.

Aduana Stars have so far played four matches in the group stage of the Confeds Cup, losing two to ASEC Mimosas and AS Vita on the road while winning once against Vita in Dormaa and drawing the othr with Raja Casablanca.

The Dormaahene met the team on Monday at his Abranpadeasepalace and urged them to keep fighting for qualification.

He also encouraged the team to give their all and strive to win their final two group games against ASEC and Raja Casablanca.

“We, the playing body, are very happy for this. We are surprised by this and Nana has shown how committed he is to the team. There are no football activities in Ghana and so, we are relieved by this gesture,” captain of Aduana, Yahya Mohammed said, in appreciation of the Dormaahene’s gesture.

Each player is expected to earn between $300 and $1,200 from the bonus package given by the Dormaahene.

Meanwhile, the club will play their next Confeds Cup game on August 19 when they host ASEC Mimosas at home.
