Guinea FA appoints Paul Pogba’s mother as ambassador for women’s football

Yeo Moriba mother of Manchester United’s Paul Pogba has been named as the ambassador for women’s football.

Yeo Moriba's nomination followed a meeting with Feguifoot President Mamadou Antonio Souare.

Souare is counting on Paul Pogba and his twin brothers to assist their mother achieve success in her new role as the federation aims at taking women’s football to a new level.

Moriba, who played for the Guinea female national football team has expressed his delight at her new role.

"I am proud of what the Guinea Football Federation and its president have done," she told Feguifoot's website.

Yeo Moriba gave birth to Florentin and Mathias in Guinea, before moving to France where she gave birth to Paul.

Paul Pogba’s two brothers played for the Syli Nationale of Guinea, while, the Manchester United midfielder has won one title world cup title each at the U-20 level and the senior level with France.

Defender Florentin last played in Turkey with Genclerbirligi, while striker Mathias is currently with French club Tours.

Unlike their male counterparts the women's team has never qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations let alone the World Cup or Olympics.
