Injured Daniel Amartey to miss out on AFCON

Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers says he is uncertain about when Daniel Amartey would recover from his injury.

Amartey was reportedly ruled out for eight weeks, but he couldn’t recover on time to join the team in March.

It looks like the medical team of Leicester City hasn’t been able to confirm the exact time that Amartey would return to the field, which is a piece of disturbing news to the Black Stars as they prepare for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

''Daniel is obviously with the medical and sports science team so we’ll see how that goes between now and the end of the season,'' Rodgers said ahead of last Friday's clash against Newcastle United.

Daniel Amartey was part of the Black Stars team that reached final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Equatorial Guinea and he also made a great contribution in Ghana’s campaign in the last edition of the AFCON.

The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations will kick off in June in Egypt.

Ghana have been drawn in group F with Guinea-Bissau, Cameroon and Benin.
