Mexico amassed five points to secure a place in the quarter finals of the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to set a date with Ghana.
Mexico started the competition with a draw against South Africa, before they edged Brazil 1-0 and continued with a 1-1 draw against Japan in their final group stage to pick up five points from a possible nine.

Japan topped the group at the expense of the Central Americans by virtue of a superior goal difference.
Mexico’s clash against Ghana is expected to produce much entertainment, with the Black Maidens having won all their three games.
The kick-off time for the quarter final game between Ghana and Mexico is scheduled for Sunday at 7:00pm Ghanaian time.

Ghana’s best feat in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup was a third place finish in 2012 in Azerbaijan.
They have failed to go beyond the quarter finals in their last three attempts.
