Mohamed Salah wins African Footballer of Year for second year running

Egyptian and Liverpool ace has beaten off competition from Sadio Mane and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang for the second year in a row.

The colourful ceremony which was held in the Senegalese capital of Dakar on Tuesday was graced by the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ahmad.

Mohamed Salah won flagship award of the CAF gala as he beats his teammate Sadio Mane who finished second and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang who placed third to the gong.

The Egyptian had an astonishing year, scoring 32 goals last term to win the Premier League top scorer. Although Mohamed Salah failed to inspire Egypt to qualify from the group stage of the FIFA World Cup, he registered two goals for the Pharaohs.

His splendid performance earned him a place in the three shortlisted m for then FIFA Player Award.

He also finished sixth in the Ballon d'Or.
