All you need to know about Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals

Liberty Professionals have never quite been a club that is synonymous with winning trophies. Rather the club is focused on nurturing talents.

The club was founded by businessmen Felix Ansong and Alhaji Sly Tetteh (the latter has, however, passed on).

Liberty was founded in the year 1996 and is currently based in Dansoman, a suburb if Accra, with its home ground as the Karl Reindorf stadium.

Nicknamed the Scientific Soccer Lads, the club was one of the earliest in Ghana to adopt a professional approach to football management.

Liberty started out in the Poly Tank Division One League, before progressing to the Ghanaian topflight in just their second attempt in the second tier.

Honours

Their best ever finish in the Ghana Premier League was placing fourth, whiles a semi-final exit in the FA Cup remains their closest in the competition.

The Dansoman-based club also participated in the West African Club Championship (UFOA Cup) where they placed third.

Past Players

Liberty has produced some of the greatest talents to ever emerge from Ghana. In fact, the club has contributed the most players to the national team than any other in the last two decades.

The likes of Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Derek Boateng, Kwadwo Asamoah and current Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan are all players who passed through the Liberty academy.

Others like Latif Blessing, Kennedy Ashia and Daniel Adjei are also part of the club production line in recent years.
