Video: Baba Yara Stadium shooting victim tells his story

Augustine Oppong a driver who was shot last two weeks after Kotoko suffered a 0-1 a defeat against Berekum Chelsea has narrated how the incident happened after being discharged from the hospital.

Asante Kotoko were stunned at home as they lost 0-1 against Berekum Chelsea on matchday 5 of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Kotoko fans who were not happy with the results attacked the match officials and the police in their quest to control the crowd fired a rubber bullet and unfortunately Augustine Oppong who was at the scene got hit in the head.

Oppong was hospitalized and he has narrated his story after being discharged.

“I am the one who usually drives some supporters home. But after the game, I heard a noise and I rushed to find out what was happening.

“When I went there the atmosphere was in a chaotic mood. The police car drove and parked closer to where I was standing. I turned to look at something, but unfortunately, I heard a noise and I became unconscious afterwards."

The accident has affected Augustine Oppong’s speech and eye.
