Ghana Premier League Statistics after match day 27

Match day 27 recorded 19 league goals, which is the highest goals scored on a match day in the second round. There were three draws and five wins.

Medeama SC handed the Cape Coast boys a 0-2 defeat at Cape Coast to emerge as the only away side that won a game on match day 27. Dwarfs, who went on a magnificent run of games without a defeat have now lost two home matches in back to back weeks 

Techiman City have been pushed into the drop zone for the very first time after Liberty Professionals held them to a 1-1 draw at home.  The debutants have not recovered from the 0-1 shocking defeat at home by Dwarfs to end their unbeaten home run on match day 23. They have since lost three and drawn two games of the past five league games.

New Edubiase United, who conceded relegation last weekend, following the home defeat against Wa All Stars were further pushed down by another relegation threatened side Inter Allies when they hammered them 4-0 on match day 27 at Tema.

Inter Allies who were perishing in the drop zone lifted themselves from the zone for the first time in several weeks.

Emmanuel Ocran gave the league leaders, Wa All Stars a big boost when he hit a hat-trick to propel his side to a 3-1 victory against Dreams FC and kept historic league title ambition on course

Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, the two most successful clubs in the anal of Ghana football might throw have thrown in the towel after they lost and drew their respective games on match day 27.

Hearts of Oak suffered a 1-3 humiliating defeat against Bechem United in a match Abednego Tetteh made the headlines when he scored all the goals for the Bechem United to see the Phobians trailing the Wa All Stars by 6 points. The Phobians quest to end their trophy drought seems to have shattered after match day 27, despite enjoying life on top of the league summit at certain points in time.

They have won just three in 13 games in the second round after Sergio Tranguil took over from Kenichi Yatsuhashi.

Asante Kotoko also continued dropping points at home. They were held to a goalless draw for the second consecutive time at home when they drew goalless Berekum Chelsea.

Aduana Stars title chase suffered a jolt when they failed to end WAFA’s unbeaten home run, despite taking the lead to scare the Academy boy. After picking a point at Sogakope against WAFA, leaders Wa All Stars have stretched their lead at the summit of the league log, and they now have their destiny in their hands.

The league champions, AshGold gave Hasaacas no chance to sustain their hopes of avoiding relegation, as they pipped them by a goal to nil at Obuasi.

A total of 214 matches have been played thus far.

A total of 420 goals have been scored, which is an average of 1.96 goals per game.

Aduana Stars have scored the highest number of goals, scoring 36 in the process.

Sekondi Hasaacas have let in 38 goals, which are the most goals conceded

Wa All Stars are the team with the best defence, conceding 17 goals

A total of 152 wins have been recorded in 214 games, a percentage of 71. 02% of wins.

Wa All Stars have won more league games than any other side: 14 wins in 27 games

There have been 29 away wins. In percentage wise, it is 19.07%

61 drawn games have been witnessed in 214 league matches, which is 28.50%.

Ashgold have drawn twelve (15) games which is the most by a club.

 The highest scoring games were witnessed on match day two and six. On match day 2 Hasaacas defeated Techiman City 4-2 and on match day 6, Liberty Professionals demolished league champions Ashgold 5-1, Kotoko 4-2 Techiman City and Aduana Stars 4-2 Bechem United, all in 6-goal thriller

The highest number of goals scored by a single club in a game were 5 goals by WAFA in a 5-0 win over Hasaacas on match day 3 and Liberty Professionals when they defeated Ashgold 5-1 on match day 6.

Yahaya Mohammed is the leading top scorer in the Ghana Premier League with 14 goals for Aduana Stars

Dauda Mohammed scored the fastest goal of the first half of the season. It came under one (1) minute against Dreams FC at Dawu on match day 8.

Amos Frimpong is the highest scoring defender in the league thus far with 8 goals for Asante Kotoko

Charles Boateng was the first player to score a goal this season, when his opener aided WAFA to edge Kotoko 2-0, with Samuel Tetteh scoring the other on the opening day of the Ghana Premier League

Samuel Tetteh registered the first hat-trick of the season on match day 3 when WAFA thrashed Hasaacas 5-0. Yahaya Mohammed recorded the second hat-trick of the season, after hitting three past Hasaacas on match day 8. Dauda Mohammed completed the first round of the season with the 3rd hat-trick as Kotoko defeated Techiman City 4-2 before Latif Blessing bagged a hat-trick against Hasaacas to record the 4 of the season. Emmanuel Ocran of Wa All Stars and Abednego Tetteh of Bechem United were the first two players to score a hat-trick in the second round of the season in their outfits victory against Dreams FC and Hearts of Oak respectively.

12 players scored a brace after the first round of matches: Maxwell Baako of Wa All Stars, Latif Blessing of Liberty Professionals (scored a brace twice), Eric Bekoe of Hasaacas, Musah Ibrahim of Hearts of Oak, Saddick Adams of Berekum (twice) Chelsea, Magnus Ebo Duncan of Hasaacas , Yahaya Mohammed of Aduana Stars (thrice), Dauda Mohammed, Bright Adjei (Aduana Stars), Bright Lukman (Dwarfs), Richmond Lamptey (WAFA) and Kojo Poku (Hasaacas)

The first player to be sent off was Eric Kumi, for receiving the 2nd booking for taking off his shirt, after scoring against Medeama.

Emmanuel Hayford and Lord Ofushene of Dreams FC and Inter Allies respectively were the first two persons to see a direct red card, following a scuffle between them in their sides 2-2 draw.
