Footballer jailed for six years

The 29-year-old former England player was sentenced by Judge Jonathan Rose on Thursday, March 24, 2016. He was found guilty on March 2, 2016 of one count of sexual activity with a 15-year-old child.

Johnson had previously pleaded guilty to two other charges of kissing and grooming the girl.

He has been asked to pay £50,000 for prosecution costs and has signed the sex offenders register. Johnson also has a restraining order against the victim who was 15 years old at the time of the incident.

The court was told Adam Johnson has intention to appeal the conviction.
