'Afoko should forget going to court' - NPP

The National Council of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked Mr Paul Afoko to forget seeking redress in court over his suspension as the national chairman of the party.

The National Council on Thursday, November 12, 2015, dismissed a petition filed by Paul Afoko against the constitutional breaches leading to his suspension.

Afoko, who lost his appeal to have his suspension reversed, has indicated he will head to court to seek redress over the matter.

Mr. Afoko's lawyer, Martin Kpebu, told tv3network.com that they have begun preparing a writ to challenge the Council's decision of Thursday night, which is likely to be filed latest by Monday.

But a member of the Council, Boniface Gambila speaking to Starr FM said Mr. Afoko should “forget” seeking redress in court.

“He has tried going to court several times, they have been throwing his cases out but he should forget it. His father was a council of state member under President Kufuor so his father benefited from the NPP administration and I think he should recognise that and just let the party be,” he stated.
