Residents of Ahafo in the Brong Ahafo Region have voted massively for the creation of a new region in the enclave.
According to the Electoral Commission, a total of 277,663 voters, from 307,108Â eligible voters, turned out for Thursday's referendum in the area.
In all, a total of 276,763 representing 99.67 per cent of the total votes cast, voted YES, while 675 representing 0.24 per cent voted NO.
A total of 225 representing 0.08 per cent votes were rejected.
