The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo has temporarily suspended his campaign, in order to mourn with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and express his deepest condolences on the death of the Asantehemaa, Nana Afua Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.

Nana Addo on Thursday, November 17, 2016, sent a message of condolence to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The NPP presidential candidate’s message was issued on his behalf by his wife, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, at the Manhyia Palace on Thursday.

Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo was supported by Samira Bawumia, wife of Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the running mate of the NPP and other party stalwarts.

However, the Kumasi Traditional Council will today, perform one week celebration over the death of Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem.

Nana Afia Kobi, the Asante queen, died at the age of 111. She was the biological mother of the reigning king.

The thirteenth queen mother of the Kingdom passed way "peacefully at her palace on Monday November 14, 2016."

Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II "has been the pillar of strength and a source of wisdom behind the transformational reign of His Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II."

She is the 39th Asantehemaa of the Ashanti Kingdom.

Meanwhile, the NPP flagbearer will resume his campaign on Friday, November 25, with two separate rallies in the Brong Ahafo Region, i.e. in Techiman and in Sunyani.
