The two-time Wimbledon champion bowed out in straights sets against Australian world number 39 Daria Gavrilova at Melbourne Park.

It was the third time the Czech had been eliminated from the tournament before the fourth round in the past four years.

Kvitova had been working with Kotyza for more than seven years, in which time she won a total of 17 WTA titles.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the 25-year-old said: "After seven fantastic years together I will no longer be working with my coach David Kotyza.

"We had a great run together, winning two Wimbledons, 17 titles and enjoying many laughs.

"I would like to thank David for the many things he taught me both on and off the court and I wish him all the very best in the future."
