Mahama, Nana Addo mourn Bantamahene

President John Mahama and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo joined the people of Bantama in the Ashanti region to mourn the late Bantamahene Baffour Amankwatia Asare.

The funeral was attended by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Some government officials also mourned with the people of Bantama.

Baffuor Awuah Amankwatia V was known in private life as Ben Kwadwo Owusu Asare, the eldest son of a former Bantamahene, Baffuor Amankwatia IV.

The Chief was laid in state Tuesday March 8, 2016 at the Bantama palace in Kumasi ahead of his burial at the royal mausoleum.

Mourners were spotted in mourning clothes with sad faces at the palace of the of the demised chief.

The Prominent Chief died some months ago at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

He will be buried Friday midnight.

Due to the funeral celebration, business activities on the busiest street has been halted.
