Berdych: Murray can win Wimbledon

Tomas Berdych was not sure if his straight-set defeat in the Wimbledon semi-final to Andy Murray did justice to his performance, but said the Scot's classy showing was enough to convince him that he would win Wimbledon.

Czech 10th seed Berdych was outclassed 6-3 6-3 6-3 on Friday, as Murray booked his spot in the Wimbledon final where he will play Milos Raonic as he chases his third grand-slam title.

And Berdych said without the threat of Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, Murray is a massive chance of winning his home slam once again at the All England Club on Sunday.

"I think he can, yeah. Definitely he can. With the fact that probably his biggest rival Novak [Djokovic] is not in the draw any more, that definitely helps for him," Berdych said.

"I think that he has all the tools to make it all the way."

But despite the size of his loss, Berdych admitted he felt he had opportunities in the first and second sets to close the gap on the world number two.

"I think there was a couple of opportunities… Especially in the second set when I was 3-2 up and had a couple of break points on his serve," he said.

"I think that was a good chance as well. But overall I have to say I think he played really well. He was able to defend the game and really play very solid. And he deserved to win today."

The semi-final run still represented a good tournament for the Czech, though he admitted he was every bit as frustrated as he was proud after his exit.

"Right now it's a bit of frustration as well and really the feeling it's, you know, the fact that I was still far [from winning], but it was the semi-final. That's what it is right now," he explained.

"But I think overall it was a good run. I think it was definitely a good two weeks, which definitely show me that that's the way to do it, that's the way to go and that's really positive signs for my second half of the year."
