The deplorable nature of the corridor currently, particularly the numerous potholes on it, has become a headache for motorists.

The Koforidua-Bunso road was constructed in the 1970s. In the 1990s, under the Highway Sector Improvement Project (HSIP) rolled out at the time to recondition the country's highways, a number of rehabilitation works were carried out on it.

There had been no major rehabilitation works carried out on the Koforidua-Bonsu Road after construction.

Even though, the contract for the road to be rehabilitated was awarded in 2008, it was terminated in June 2014 due to non-performance on the part of the contractor involved.
