Speaking on GTV Ghana’s all-time top scorer said he has withdrawn his decision against taking spot kicks for the Black Stars.

“Yes I had initially stated I was not going to take penalty kicks for Ghana, but I have reflected on it and I have decided to start taking it again,” he said on GTV.

“I know Ghanaians are disappointed because I have missed a couple of penalty kicks in crucial games but as a footballer, that has been the only challenge in my career.”

But the striker said he wants to break that jinx of missing crucial penalty kicks. “For now, I have decided to go back and take penalties for the Black Stars and break that jinx, I wanted to break that jinx in the game against USA but unfortunately it didn’t happen.

“But for now I have decided to take penalty kicks for the Black Stars again,” Gyan insisted.

Asamoah Gyan ruled himself away from taking spot kicks for Ghana after two crucial misses at the 2010 World Cup and 2012 Cup of Nation.

He came under massive attack in Ghana when he decided to take a penalty kick in a friendly two weeks ago in the US.
