Blue Jays top AL East, Mariners shock Cubs in MLB

The Chicago Cubs suffered a shock loss, going down 4-1 to the Seattle Mariners.

The Washington Nationals gave up an early lead as they went down 5-3 to the San Francisco Giants, who claimed their 60th win, while the Tampa Bay Rays were 6-3 winners over the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox earned a 6-5 win over the Minnesota Twins after 10 innings.

The Colorado Rockies beat the New York Mets 7-2, the Detroit Tigers edged the Houston Astros 3-2, the Cleveland Indians defeated the Oakland Athletics 6-3 and the Philadelphia Phillies triumphed over the Atlanta Braves 9-5.

Hernan Perez went three-for-four with three RBIs and a homer as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-3 in a series-clinching win, the Kansas City Royals lost to the Texas Rangers 2-1 and the Los Angeles Angels got the better of the Boston Red Sox 5-2.

The Miami Marlins crushed the St. Louis Cardinals 11-0, Adam Rosales hit a walk-off homer in the 10th to seal a 2-1 win for the San Diego Padres over the Cincinnati Reds and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2. MILEY DOMINATES CUBS

Mariners ace Wade Miley flirted with a no-hitter against the Cubs before Chicago's Kris Bryant broke it up in the seventh inning. It was the only hit Miley allowed in seven innings while striking out nine and being charged with one earned run in Seattle's 4-1 victory at Wrigley Field.
