The All Blacks Sevens playmaker and leading half-back is currently out of action with a broken arm, but has played over 50 games for both Chiefs and Counties Manukau.

Blues coach Tana Umaga worked with Pulu at Counties Manukau, where he was a key part of the side that won the Ranfurly Shield.

"Obviously I’ve had a lot to do with Augustine and I am impressed with his ability on the field and his demeanour off it, both as a player and a leader," Umaga said.

"He will bring a different approach and style to the half-back game which will provide us with more options in how we play."

Pulu, 26, hopes to be part of New Zealand's Olympic rugby sevens team.
