Troops kill 30 terrorists, rescue captives near Sambisa Forest

The Nigerian Army has killed 30 Boko Haram terrorists in an operation carried out near the sect’s notorious stronghold, Sambisa Forest.

The insurgents’ camps in the Bulajilin and Manawashe villages along Bita and Damboa road on the outskirts of the forest were also destroyed.

This was disclosed via a statement released by Army spokesperson, Sani Usman.

According to him, the rescued persons comprise of 8 males, 138 females and 192 children.

"…Having appealed and given the terrorists final warning, we would like to state that from now on troops within bounds of respect for human rights and rules of engagement, we shall continue to decisively deal with Boko Haram terrorists until they are defeated,” the statement read.

The soldiers were also able to recover arms and ammunitions including 1 General Purpose Machine Gun and 2 Dane Guns, 150 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) and 6 boxes of 7.62mm (NATO) during the operation.
