Just two years after losing one of her leg in the Boston Marathon bombing, Rebekah Gregory on Monday April 20 returned to this year's race to finish it.

The 27-year-old returned to the scene of the bombing, and collapsed over the finish line in joy as she finished the last few miles of the 2015 Boston Marathon - running on her prosthetic limb.

"This is the day....I take my life back," the Texas native wrote on Facebook alongside the photo of her.

The perpetrator of the April 15, 2013 bombing Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was two weeks ago found guilty of using weapons of mass destruction to kill three people and injured 264 others.

Tsarnaev, now 21, could face the death penalty after sentencing in federal court.

25-year Ethiopian, Lelisa Desisa won the marathon with an an unofficial time of 2 hours, 9 minutes, 17 seconds.

Earlier in the day, Lelisa Desisa who was also the winner of the 2013 marathon donated his medal to the city.

Caroline Rotich of Kenya won the women's division.

Thirty-thousand runners took part in this year's marathon.
