More injury woe for Sea Eagles forward Buhrer
Manly Sea Eagles forward Jamie Buhrer is facing another lengthy lay-off after suffering a suspected broken jaw in the Auckland Nines.
The Sea Eagles beat the New Zealand Warriors 15-12 on Saturday, but the triumph came at a cost - with Buhrer one of three players forced off.
Buhrer missed the bulk of last season as a result of his second anterior cruciate ligament tear in as many years.
And the 26-year-old back-rower is now set to be sidelined once again after being hurt by a high tackle from Albert Vete.
"We're down plenty - Jamie Buhrer looks like he has a broken jaw so that's not good," said Sea Eagles coach Trent Barrett.
Manly also saw Jake Trbojevic leave the field on a stretcher, the captain having taken a sickening knee to the head as he made a tackle on Konrad Hurrell.
Barrett added: "Jake's okay but he suffered a pretty bad concussion so he'll probably be ruled out for [Sunday].
"Injuries are part of the game I guess but it was a very gutsy effort overall and I'm very proud of them."
