The two Police Officers who were involved in a bullion van robbery incident at Afram Plains in the Eastern region have been sentenced to 36 months imprisonment with hard labour.

At the Mpraeso Circuit Court, the two were prosecuted on two counts; Conspiracy to escape from lawful custody and escape from lawful custody.

They were on the first count sentenced to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour and 36 months imprisonment with hard labour for the second count.
Both sentence are expected to run concurrently.

The two police officers were arrested on August 15, 2016, after an attack of a GCB Bank bullion van at Maame Krobo in the Afram Plains South District of the Eastern Region.
The incident led to the death of the driver of the van. Another police officer who was escorting the vehicle was also wounded in the attack.
The bullion van, however, had no money in it at the time of the attack.
