Cagla Buyukakcay continued her quest to become the first Turkish winner of the Istanbul Cup with a dominant victory over Nao Hibino in Friday's quarter-final.

On eight previous visits, Buyukakcay had failed to win a match at the tournament, but the world number 118 is building plenty of momentum and was on court for little over an hour in a 6-1 6-2 win over the sixth seed.

Hibino was left to rue her poor serving as she saved just two of seven break points, but for Buyukakcay her dream of providing a home winner continues.

Awaiting in the last four is Stefanie Voegele after the Swiss was a comfortable 7-5 6-2 victor against Kristina Kucova.

On the other side of the draw, fifth seed Danka Kovinic overcame a poor first set to beat Maria Sakkari 1-6 6-1 6-2, and she now plays Kateryna Kozlova following her 6-2 6-3 win against Anastasija Sevastova.
