Hull KR's hopes of reaching the Super 8s have been dealt a blow with the news captain Terry Campese will miss the rest of the Super League campaign.

With four games of the regular season remaining Rovers sit in ninth place, five adrift of Widnes Vikings in the final top-eight berth.

They will be without Campese as they look to avoid The Qualifiers after the Australian suffered a serious hamstring tear in their 48-16 defeat to Wigan Warriors.

Campese ruptured his hamstring midway through the second half of that game, with subsequent scans revealing the full extent of his injury.

"This is really disappointing news for the club and for Terry, who has suffered greatly with injuries this season and done his very best to return as quickly as possible each time," head of rugby Jamie Peacock told the club's official website.

"When he has played for us, his quality and leadership skills have been clear to see, so we shall certainly miss his influence out on the field."
