Bautista Agut lifts second 2016 title at Sofia Open
Roberto Bautista Agut maintained his impressive start to 2016 with his second ATP title of the year at the Sofia Open on Sunday.
The Spaniard - who is 12-2 this year - lifted the ASB Classic in Auckland last month and added the inaugural title in Bulgaria with a 6-3 6-4 win over Viktor Troicki.
After entering the tournament at the quarter-final stage thanks to a first-round bye and second-round walkover, Bautista Agut finished the week having not dropped a set and he was in complete control in the final.
He only dropped 16 points on his serve in the match, while asserting plenty of pressure on his Serbian rival – especially at the start of the second set.
After taking the opening set in 32 minutes, Bautista Agut broke twice early on in the second to lead 3-1 and he never looked back as he cruised to the title.
The win marks the fourth triumph in eight final appearances for Bautista Agut, a record he will look to improve at the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam next week.
