The day a man and woman tie the knot is an extremely special and memorable one, while most people go with the norm, others break free of traditions, Tammy Caplan and Joe Gold certainly fit into the second group.

The creative couple, who are actors, writers and independent filmmakers, went into their childhood memories and decided to have a Sesame Street inspired wedding.

Guests at the wedding were totally surprised to see six puppets officiate- a main officiant, a rabbi, a judge, a ring bear, a captain and a wedding crasher.

On why they decided on puppets, Caplan told The Huffington Post that they both were fans of "Sesame Street" and the Muppets growing up.

On the characters and the script the puppets used, she said, "Joe and I wrote the ceremony fairly quickly, after we talked out what we wanted to do, the first draft took about a day. It was a blast to write! We’ve written several scripts together, but this was one of the most fun writing projects."

To the surprise of the couple, people actually had fun, "we were a little nervous they wouldn't like the idea but they loved it. The guests had tons of fun which was exactly what we wanted for our wedding."

During the ceremony the puppeteers walked around with their puppets and interacted with the wedding guests.

Guests were invited to make their very own puppets, so, at the end of the day, the couple went on to have a special dance where everyone brought their puppets onto the dance floor.
