Saracens and England wing Chris Ashton will discover whether he has been successful with an appeal against his 10-week ban on Thursday.

Ashton's hopes of playing in the Six Nations were apparently dashed when he was found guilty of making contact with the eyes of Ulster's Luke Marshall during a European Champions Cup match last month.

The 28-year-old challenged the verdict and his case was put to an independent three-man Appeal Committee in London on Wednesday.

But the hearing was adjourned, so Ashton will have to wait another day to learn his fate.

The former rugby league man had been hoping to start England's tournament opener against Scotland on Saturday after earning a recall following his impressive form for Premiership leaders Saracens.
