Moeen Ali: England can rescue fourth South Africa Test
Moeen Ali says England can take motivation from their stunning victory at the Wanderers as they aim to pull off an unlikely fightback in the fourth and final Test against South Africa.
The Proteas were routed for just 83 in their second innings in Johannesburg, Stuart Broad's six-wicket haul dramatically changing the course of a match that had been intriguingly poised when England claimed a slender first-innings lead of 10.
However, South Africa are firmly on course to claim a consolation win at Centurion, after ending the day three on Sunday 175 ahead on 42-1 following Kagiso Rabada's seven-wicket haul.
Moeen - who contributed 61 to England's first-innings total of 342 - told a news conference: "We're going to have to play extremely well to get anything out of this game."
However, the all-rounder is refusing to give up, highlighting the previous Test as evidence of how quickly things can change.
Having suggested England could chase down 300 for victory, Moeen told the England and Wales Cricket Board's official website: "To keep them down to that we are going to have to do extremely well again tomorrow [Monday].
"We have got guys in the dressing room who have done it before - at the Wanderers - so I don't see why we can't do it here.
"We have got to get Hashim [Amla], [Stephen] Cook and AB [de Villiers] out. We feel they are the three big wickets now.
"After that we feel we can attack the new batters when they come in. We are going to have to get some early poles and bowl really well.
"We have seen it lately, bowling a good side out on a pitch that is doing a bit [is possible]. We have got the bowlers to do it."
Reflecting on his first half-century in the series, which helped England recover in part from a middle-order collapse, Moeen added: "I have not scored many runs lately, but to get some form and rhythm into my batting was nice."
