After a series of inspections of the Napier pitch, umpires decided to call off the game due to the wet outfield causing unsafe conditions for players on either side.

With the cut-off time for a 20-over game set at 7.19pm, the decision was made at 6.25pm local time to abandon the clash.

The Black Caps still lead the three-game series 1-0 as ahead of the final ODI in Auckland on Sunday.
