Female pop singer jailed two years for eating apple and banana in the presence of men
The Cairo court on Tuesday handed the jail term to the singer popularly known as Shima, following a controversial video that went viral on social media in which she was seen in an underwear singing, while eating an apple and banana before a classroom of young men.

Critics were of the view that, the way and manner she conducted herself coupled with the eating was suggestive of debauchery and the songstress was subsequently arrested and arraigned for court.
The incident became such a hot subject for discussion among conservative Muslim countries including Egypt where it took place. According to Africanspotlight.com, there were even TV and radio discussions in relation to the perceived debauchery.

Eventually, the Cairo court of misdemeanor passed a verdict that did not go in favour of the songstress.
The court held the view that Shaima’s conduct was morally corrupt and had the tendency to pollute the society.
