Monarch dies aged 99

The 8th Duke of Wellington has died at the age of 99, a spokesperson says.

Arthur Valerin Wellesley passed on today, December 31, in his home at the Stratfield Saye Estate in Hampshire while surrounded by members of his family.

The spokesman added that a private family funeral would be held at the Stratfield Saye Church on Thursday, January 8.

The deceased was a descendant of the 1st Duke of Wellington, who defeated Napoleon in the Battle of Waterloo.
