Boland Cavaliers beat Eastern Province Kings 28-10 in the Currie Cup on Friday, while Sharks triumphed 46-24 against Griquas.

Eastern Province Kings slipped to a 28-10 home loss to Boland Cavaliers in their first Currie Cup game of the season on Friday.

The Kings' participation had been in doubt but they survived a vote to be relegated amid financial concerns.

Cavaliers led 7-3 at the break and Zandre Jordaan, Christopher Bosch and Kenan Cronje crossed in the second to put their team completely in control, bouncing back from a heavy loss to Cheetahs.

There was also a comfortable win on Friday for Sharks, who beat Griquas 46-24 to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season after two matches.

Etienne Oosthuizen opened the scoring after just two minutes and S'bura Sithole added another quick try, with Sharks building a commanding 31-10 half-time lead at Kings Park Stadium after Andre Esterhuizen and Stefan Ungerer crossed before the interval.

Alshaun Bock and JW Jonker struck back for Griquas after the break but a Bosch penalty restored a 15-point advantage with 10 minutes to play and a late Jean Deysel try made Sharks' margin of victory even larger.
