Leicester Tigers captain Ed Slater has been called up to the England squad for Saturday's Six Nations clash with Wales as a replacement for the injured Courtney Lawes.

Lock Lawes suffered an ankle injury during Northampton Saints' win over Premiership leaders Saracens on Saturday and will miss the crunch clash with Warren Gatland's side at Twickenham.

Uncapped forward Slater benefits from Lawes' misfortune after catching Eddie Jones' eye with some impressive displays for the Tigers.

Slater's Tigers team-mate Manu Tuilagi is also included in the 33-man squad after reporting for training with England last week following his recovery from injury.

Ollie Devoto has been passed fit after being sidelined due to concussion, while fellow centre Luther Burrell also gets the nod but wing Marland Yarde (shoulder) is not fit.
