The accusations come days after the NPP, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) clashed in the Walewale constituency, leaving scores injured.

But the regional minister has dismissed the allegations, saying the NPP chairman is only fabricating lies.

“These are allegations that are unfounded; they are baseless and I consider them as deliberately fabricated lies to tarnish the image of a candidate the NPP is very afraid of,” he told Accra-based TV3.

The Minister added that “This is a matter that any well-meaning Ghanaian, a responsible citizen of Ghana should dismiss with the contempt it deserves because I believe strongly that any person who seeks to rule this country and any person who is a Chairman of the party that seeks to rule this country should have behaved differently if these allegations were true.”

Abubakar Abdallah believed that the NPP regional chairman should have alerted the security agencies about the allegations rather than resort to the media.

“...For somebody to go talk to the media on such a critical and serious allegation, it also tells you that it is a matter of political propaganda from a desperate political party,” the regional Minister added.
