I don't aspire to be first lady - Mrs Nduom

Mrs Yvonne Nduom said she was not dying to be first lady of Ghana but will support her husband if he is elected president after the December polls.

The wife of the 2016 presidential nominee for the Progressive People’s Party has revealed that she is not dying to become a first lady of the country.

She explained that this does not mean she does not support her husband in his bid to be the next president of Ghana.

Speaking to Accra-based Joy FM Mrs Nduom said: “I actually don’t want to dwell on this First Lady [thing] because I must tell you that seriously it’s not my aspiration.”

She explained that she has been on several campaign platforms propagating her husband’s message as a supportive wife.

“My husband believes and I support him that he has a lot to offer Ghana because where we are at is not where we should be and that we can have accelerated development. So of course, I’m solidly behind him,” Mrs Nduom said.

She added that she will support her husband fully if he is voted as president of the country after the December 7 polls.

“That’s what he wants to do and I’m solidly behind him. If Ghanaians were to vote for my husband then I’ll give him all the necessary support that he needs. I will support all of these things if Ghanaians were to vote for him.”

She mentioned that her husband believes women should be empowered so they take up positions in government. She added that he has the issues of other vulnerable groups at heart and will see to it that issues pertaining to those who fall within such groups are attended to.
