The Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has picked nomination forms at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission to contest in the 2016 presidential polls.

Acting General Secretary of the party John Boadu picked the forms on Nana Addo’s behalf.

This follows hours after the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho picked up forms on the President Mahama’s behalf.

Five presidential nominees have so far picked nomination forms from the Electoral Commission in a bid to contest in the December 7 presidential elections.

The five are President Mahama who is contesting on the ticket of the NDC, Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Kofi Akpaloo of the Independent People’s party (IPP), Akwasi Addai Odike of the United Progressive Party (UPP) and Nana Agyenim- Boateng of the United Front Party (UFP).

President Mahama picked his form on Wednesday, September 14. A Deputy General Secretary of the NDC Koku Anyidoho picked it on his behalf. The other four nominees picked theirs on Tuesday, September 13.

Presidential and parliamentary candidates are mandated to a filing fee of GH¢50,000 and GH¢10,000 respectively but several political parties have raised concerns with the pricing.
