Wilson argued on Accra-based Citi FM that per the constitution of the party the General Secretary was the head of administration and therefore has to attach some importance to the filling of the nomination forms.

“The general secretary did not do his work well. He did not attach the seriousness that needed to be attached to the filling of the nomination.”

He expressed shock that a party like the PNC has been disqualified for such 'administrative lapses' especially considering the party's history.

“Clearly speaking PNC with our history should not be among those that have been disqualified on the grounds of administrative lapses. This is clearly avoidable that if we have just a little bit of a competent general secretary, we wouldn’t have found ourselves in this mess.”

“If EC had disqualified us on any other ground this would be acceptable and reasonable but for EC to tell us that we did not file our documents as over the guidelines given us it simply means that we did not take this filling so seriously. It simply means that as a national political party we decided not to go by the seriousness we have been attaching over the previous years to this coming election.”

Edward Mahama and 12 others  including the PPP's Dr Kwasi Ndoum and former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings  were disqualified by the EC from contesting in the December 7 over some anomalies on their nomination forms.
