The lawyer of the PPP argued that the Constitutional Instrument (CI 94), the regulation governing the 2016 general elections does not provide for the disqualification of any candidate.

The lawyer for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has indicated that the party will head to the Supreme Court if ruling on the party’s disqualification in the presidential goes against their wishes.

Speaking after the case was heard yesterday (Tuesday) he said he is currently optimistic the ruling on Friday, October 28, will be in their favour.

He argued that it was clear the Electoral Commission erred by taking this step to disqualify the presidential aspirants.
