Ex-NBA star Nate Robinson hopes to play in NFL

Three-time NBA slam dunk contest champion Nate Robinson has set his sights on a career in the NFL.

Robinson's career in the NBA has stalled following a brief spell??with the New Orleans Pelicans but he was once a well-known name, winning the dunk contest in 2006, 2009 and 2010.

After spending the majority??of his career with the New York Knicks, Robinson had stints with the Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls and Denver Nuggets before joining the Los Angeles??Clippers and then the Pelicans.

But, before concentrating fully on??basketball, the 31-year-old??was a well-respected American football player.

He originally committed to the University of Washington on a football scholarship.??Robinson played in 13 games??his freshman season, starting six, and recorded??two interceptions and made 34 tackles.

And, now that his basketball career has essentially stopped, Robinson??wants to return to football.

"If you ask people around here, they know. Nate Robinson, his??best sport is football," he said in a video posted by The Lead Sports. "People tell me all the time, if anybody can play football, it's you.

"For me, I don't think anyone's ever played basketball and football. I mean, you've got Deion Sanders??to play football and baseball, Bo Jackson, why not me, Nate Robinson, be the first one to do it?"
