England fly-half George Ford has signed a new contract with Premiership club Bath.

The 22-year-old has starred for club and country since moving to the Recreation Ground from Leicester Tigers two years ago.

Ford has racked up 637 points in only 59 appearances for Bath, who are coached by his father Mike, and was named IRB Young Player of the Year in 2011.

And Ford, who has made 17 England appearances, revealed on Wednesday that he did hesitate in extending his stay.

"It sounds like a cliche, but it really was an easy decision to stay here at Bath." he said.

"It's a great set-up, and the squad are working so hard to achieve our goals. There is a real focus on developing each and every player here, and that is a hugely inspiring environment to be part of.

"I'm really looking forward to the next two years and playing my part in an exciting time for the club."

Ford kicked a touchline conversion as Bath claimed a dramatic last-gasp win at Wasps in the European Champions Cup on Sunday.
