Exum was included in the 26-man team for the Rio Games in August alongside Dellavedova, despite still recovering from a torn anterior cruciate injury.

The 20-year-old Utah Jazz guard suffered the injury in action for the Boomers in August last year and while question marks still remain over his fitness, Dellavedova is hoping to see Exum on the plane to Rio.

"We all know that he really wants to be there," the Cleveland Cavaliers guard told NBA Australia.

"He's desperate to go over [to Rio] and loves playing for Australia.

"We all hope his rehab goes well, and he manages to be healthy in time."

Dellavedova added: "It's different for each team and each situation.

"Obviously, the Jazz have a lot invested in him, so I'm not too sure what will eventuate, but we know that he wants to play and will give it his best shot if his body is right by then."

Among the 26-man roster are fellow NBA players Andrew Bogut (Golden State Warriors), Patrick Mills (San Antonio Spurs), Joe Ingles (Utah Jazz), Aron Baynes (Detroit Pistons) and Cameron Bairstow (Chicago Bulls).
