F1: Nico Rosberg revels Russian GP freedom

Nico Rosberg revelled in having clear track in front of him for the majority of the Russian Grand Prix as he completed a first ever grand slam.

After qualifying first in Sochi, Rosberg led the race throughout and secured the fastest lap time of one minute and 39.094 - a new track record - on his penultimate loop around the circuit.

The German enjoyed the opportunity to push himself to the limit with a comfortable advantage over team-mate Lewis Hamilton in second position.

"I was feeling really comfortable today, especially at the end of the race, when I could open up the gas and push a little bit more," said Rosberg.

"I knew it was safe to push and definitely get to the end of the race with those tyres. I was enjoying it out there, just flat-out to the end.

"It's been an awesome weekend, the car has been fantastic. Very, very happy. I just like to keep going for concentration. If I slow down, that's when you make mistakes. Keep banging them out."

After a fourth straight win this season, Rosberg now leads Hamilton in the drivers' standings by 43 points.

He refuses to get carried away with the advantage, however, and expects his team-mate to keep on challenging him.

"It's four races from 21 - Lewis is going to come back of course. He's on it and as motivated as ever," Rosberg said.

"It was a great job from Lewis to come up to second from 10th so quickly. We have an incredible car and we just want to win races."
