Formula 1: British Grand Prix in numbers

Lewis Hamilton has triumphed at the British Grand Prix for the past two seasons and will be confident of making it three in a row on Sunday.

The Mercedes driver has won three of the last four races, the latest secured after a controversial collision with team-mate and championship leader Nico Rosberg in Austria last weekend.

With difference between the two now just 11 points, Hamilton will know victory plus Rosberg failing to make the podium will see him take the lead in the drivers' standings.

Sunday's race sees Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo return to the scene where he made his Formula One debut in 2011.

Driving for HRT, Ricciardo was classified 19th at Silverstone, but he will be hoping to mark his five-year anniversary with a much-improved result in 2016.

With the help of Opta data, we look at the numbers behind the British Grand Prix:

1 – Pascal Wehrlein scored his first point, and that of Manor in their current guise, in Austria.

2 – A blown out tyre forced Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel out of the Austrian GP, and the German now has as many retirements in the first nine grands prix of 2016 as he did in the whole of last season.

3 – Nobody was won three British Grands Prix in a row since Jim Clark secured four successive victories between 1962 and 1965. Hamilton has finished at the top of the podium in the last two races at Silverstone.

4 – Fernando Alonso is the driver with the most retirements in 2016, while his total since re-joining McLaren prior is 11.

5 – Sunday's race takes place on the five-year anniversary of Daniel Ricciardo's F1 debut.

75 – Hamilton has won three of the last four F1 races and has closed the gap to championship leader Rosberg by 32 points in the process.

79 – The Austrian Grand Prix saw the most cumulative pit-stops of any race this season.

1950 – Silverstone hosted its first Grand Prix on May 13, 1950. Giuseppe Farina was the winner.

2009 – Hamilton's win at the Red Bull Ring made him the driver with the most points in F1 history, surpassing Vettel's total of 1992.
