English legends bow out of EPL in contrasting styles

Though they both scored a goal in their last English Premier League games, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard has contrasting ends to their EPL journey.

Frank Lampard scored for Manchester City as they defeated Southampton in the last game of the season to finish second why Steven Gerrard and his Liverpool side were on the end of a 6-1 bashing by Stoke City.

Lampard who was made captain of the day by City, scored a trademark goal in the 31st minute to take his tally to 177st in the Premier League for West Ham, Chelsea and City.

David Silva laid the ball to James Milner whose close was converted by the Chelsea all time goalscorer.

City ensured victory as Sergio Aguero added a City second, nodding in his 26th league goal of the seaosn.

Lampard returned to the field with his two daughters, Isla and Luna, and father Frank Snr who helped present him with a signed shirt bearing the number 609 in honour of the Premier League appearances he has made during a 19-year career in the top-flight.

After the fanfare during his last home game of the season at Anfield, Stoke City ensured that there was no fairy tale ending for Gerrard with a 6-1 white washing.

Like Lampard, Gerrard however signed off with a late consolation goal for Lliverpool.

Lampard will head to the United States next month to finally join up with Manchester City’s MLS franchise side, New York City FC and will be facing Gerrard again in the MLS when they play LA Galaxy.
