French Open: Serena Williams breezes past Pereira

Serena Williams was in no mood to hang around on Court Suzanne Lenglen on Thursday as she disposed of Teliana Pereira in just 68 minutes.

The defending French Open champion outclassed her Brazilian opponent throughout her 6-2 6-1 victory in the second round, Williams showing all aspects of her game are looking strong in her quest for a fourth title.

Williams only played one tournament on clay ahead of this year's second grand slam but she continued to show little sign of rust with a dominant display.

Her aggressive style quickly gave her a double break in the opening set and although Pereira pulled one back she could not stop Williams going one set ahead with some more thundering groundstrokes.

Such was Williams' control of the rallies she was able to mix up her game well to pressurise Pereira, the American visiting the net on a number of occasions to good effect.

She wrapped up her straight sets win with a third break of the second set, Pereira unable to produce enough to worry the world number one.
