Gary Kubiak: Peyton Manning 'can take his time'
Manning has been non-committal on talk of his impending retirement following the Broncos' 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.
Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Wednesday Kubiak said there are "obviously time frames," but the Broncos are going to let Manning decide on his own time if he wants to walk away from the game after 18 seasons.
"The bottom line is we made a decision about how we're going to go about it," Kubiak said. "It's about him taking his time to work through things. There's no hurry here. We want him to enjoy what took place, and we'll go from there."
While the Broncos are willing to let the 39-year-old Manning take his time, his decision might affect what they decide to do with backup Brock Osweiler, who will become a free agent next month.
Osweiler filled in while Manning was out with a torn plantar fascia in his left foot. The fourth-year quarterback threw for 1,967 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions while going 5-2 as a starter.
"Brock has a bright future and did a heck of a job," Kubiak said. "He played well in some tough situations. We want him to be a part of our football team."
